Best teeth whitening can be done professionally at a dentist office or in the comfort of your own home. The products available have difference and some may better than others depending on your needs and the results you desire. When choosing between teeth whitening systems, research and knowledge will help you choose between the products available. Basically, the type of system can be broken down into three categories. These include brush on whiteners, bleaching strips and trays with bleaching gels. All bleaching products contain either carbamide or hydrogen peroxide as an oxidizer to deeply whiten the teeth and give you a bright smile.

Brush on whiteners come in the form of a bleaching pen that allows you to brush the whitening product on the teeth and allow it to dry. Generally it takes up to two weeks before you will see noticeable results, but the pen is one of the easiest teeth whitening systems. It also allows you to do touch ups and choose individual teeth to use the product on. One drawback is that if it is not applied evenly or if the product is rubbed off the teeth, you can get spotty results. For some, it may difficult to paint on the product and allow it to dry.

Bleaching strips are another inexpensive at-home teeth whitening system. The strips are applied to the teeth and worn for about 30 minute a day twice a day. Full results generally take two weeks. Applying the strips isn't always easy and it is possible to miss grooves in the teeth since you are working on an uneven surface, giving some not so great results. The results are not dramatic, but a noticeable difference is usually seen in about two weeks. Drug stores and department stores sell the strips over the counter and at an affordable price.

Trays with bleaching gels probably work best at home teeth whitening systems for dramatic results. You fill the mouth trays with the peroxide based gel and wear them on your teeth for few hours or sometimes overnight. This depends on the concentration of peroxide in the product. It takes up to two weeks to see full results, but it is the closest to the in-office dental whitening than the other methods. The prices of these systems do vary and you can buy them at a drugstore or from your dental office. Either way, the methods should be similar.
